Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his future following another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period like this with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
