Beloved Star The actor Pat Finn, Recognized For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
US actor Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in LA this Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per media reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a announcement.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".
A Prolific Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, depicting a social organizer who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous popular shows, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His cinematic roles are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Off-Screen Life
Away from his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was involved with a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored many learners throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared on social media.
Pat Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his family.
