The British government is ready to advance with using the entire amount of frozen Russia's holdings to bolster Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They further noted that the initiative would be carried out in close cooperation with the United States.

UK sanctions have blocked more than £25bn of Russia's funds since Moscow initiated its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, previously, resources allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had solely been drawn from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and Germany were aligned in their desire to drive progress toward using the full value of the frozen Russia's state holdings to end the war.

He added that more restrictions soon would apply more pressure on Russia.

This declaration comes after EU leaders convened in the Danish capital last week to discuss employing frozen Russian holdings for a €140bn financial aid to Ukraine.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to seize or otherwise use immobilized Russian holdings, based on media sources.

The worth of seized Russia's assets in the European Union is calculated to be nearly €211bn.

Moscow executed widespread aerial attacks throughout Ukraine on that day, leading to electricity outages in large parts of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.

Several persons were killed and at least 20 people were hurt in the assault, Ukrainian officials said.

In a post on an online platform following the strike, Zelensky stated that the strategic strike focused on non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not just talk but firm measures - from the US, Europe, and the Group of Seven - in providing defense mechanisms and enforcing sanctions," he stated.

"Every sanction decision weakens the Russian war effort," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky informed reporters he would press Sir Keir to join the Purl program, under which partner nations acquire military equipment from the US to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the UK's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the initiative, as well as impose additional restrictions on Moscow.
