Enthusiasts looking forward to the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait much longer. A highly anticipated demo version will go live on the seventh of January, providing a generous taste into the game's opening hours. Notably, all progress earned within this demo will be able to be carried over directly into the complete game upon its subsequent release.

More Than a Simple Re-release: A Complete Transformation

This project constitutes a comprehensive re-envisioning of the seminal 2000 RPG, initially released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a notable departure from recent series remakes, like the recently released HD-2D versions, this version utilizes a charming 3D aesthetic. Environments appear to evoke detailed miniature worlds, with protagonists featuring a whimsical stylized appearance.

"Even with the previous port, the main quest was still quite extended. Therefore, we reached a determination that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an experience for today's audiences."

Significant Gameplay Enhancements and Updates

Square Enix has introduced numerous enhancements to update the original experience. These include:

• Streamlined Field Encounters: Inspired by contemporary RPGs, low-level monsters are now defeated directly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for entering a separate traditional battle sequence.
• Variable Combat Speed: Gamers have the option to accelerate battle sequences to quickly get past less challenging encounters.
• New Job System: One completely new vocation was added for this remake. Additionally, characters gain the option to master a second vocation, greatly expanding customization possibilities.

Such refinements are aimed at mitigate a key the original game's common points of feedback: its daunting scope. The initial main quest was known to take more than 100 hours to finish. The reimagined version has been specifically structured to refine flow and cut down on any repetition.
