Fans Demand Custody of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of the actress are calling for that a individual who jumped a fence and seized the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A circulating video shows the individual from Australia pushing past photographers and lunging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet accompanied by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being detained", though official papers revealed that he was set to appear on the next day. It is not clear if he was charged.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram profile includes videos of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney concert in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last December.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is obviously a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Many fans blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had revealed experiencing PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her May 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another comment on Instagram.
Some attendees also faulted guards at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage shared widely, Grande appeared startled when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Hundreds of fans had assembled in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore mall, including several who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The movie, to be released on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-part version of the acclaimed stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two distinct sorceresses.
The show itself is a adaptation of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, winning several for outstanding attire and set decoration.
