Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported debris landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
