An Australian man who jumped past a barrier and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was given a sentence to over a week in prison for being a public nuisance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the country's border control informed news outlets.

The man shoved through camera crews and rushed toward the actress and singer, who was present at the Asian debut for the film on November 13. Co-star Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

He has a background of interrupting performances and star-studded occasions, including rushing the stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in the past June.

The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with many accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.

The celebrity has spoken of suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a explosive incident at her concert in the English city in May 2017 resulted in the deaths of over twenty people and injured hundreds.

During Wen's trial, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the film's premiere on two occasions, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a follow-up try to cross the barriers. Security staff intercepted him and pinned him down.

The man subsequently shared video clips expressing gratitude to the star for allowing his presence and said he was "released."

Authorities detained him the next day and accused him with disorderly conduct, to which the man admitted guilt.

The actress has not addressed the situation.

Erivo discussed the incident to NBC, saying that she "only aimed to ensure my friend was secure."

"I'm sure he had no intention to us danger, but you never know with these incidents, and I sought to ensure that she was OK. That was my immediate response," she stated.
