The former Liverpool manager admits coming back to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown in 30 years, currently occupies positions overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and as an advisor for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the league title under Arne Slot, but many fans who adore the manager would welcome the notion of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to the podcast host: “I declared I will never coach another team on English soil. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...yes. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, that means the choice could be mine in a few years, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on what circumstances must arise to draw him back to the dugout, he confessed he isn't eager to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “No longing for management; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; I'm glad to skip interviews four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats each week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad talking freely, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits in the building. I can still hear the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended of the current boss, praising him for the tweaks which secured the championship in the previous season. The team has suffered four in a row across various tournaments following significant transfers, though he denied the idea that it might signal a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. It’s a really good balanced team. You don’t have to worry over the club, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in during his tenure, and the effect for the team. The forward died tragically in a vehicle collision together with his sibling this past summer.

“How do you replace such an individual? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the squad absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough about it. A devastating blow for all the boys as well. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it for poor performances but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Handling this emotionally is difficult. Unbearable.”
